Sandi Rancid, is a Mexican activist and actress, residing in Mexicali, Baja California, Mexico. She has always been motivated by social causes, and currently identifies as a feminist. Her passion for acting began in school, where she participated in theater plays. However, it was her fascination with horror and legends that led her to pursue theatrical projects. Her first approach to cinema was in collaboration with independent film director Roy Dorantes, in the production of a promo for a haunted house project "La Habitación" during Halloween of 2019. This short project led her to want to continue working with Dorantes. She answered a casting call from Dorantes in 2020 for a new film project but it was interrupted by the COVID pandemic. Then, in 2021, with COVID subsiding, she joined Dorantes to make a film about COVID. However, during the first cast meeting for the new film project, Sandy shared her personal story with domestic violence and it totally blew the director’s mind. He immediately threw out the COVID project, looked straight at Sandy, and said, “We’re making that story!” And that’s how the independent film "¡Ni Una Más! (Not One More!) was born. Sandy played the role of Isabel, one of the lead characters. The film, shot in Mexicali and Imperial Valley, marked a turning point in her career and life. Now Sandi Rancid is an actress and activist who uses her platform to speak about social issues and promote change. Her story is a testament to the importance of following your passions and giving voice to your experiences.
After “Not One More!”, Sandy had an important role in another of Dorantes’ film projects.
“I had the honor of being part of the 'Night Children' film project, an initiative that seeks to highlight and address the issue of abused and exploited children. In this project, I played the role of a caregiver for a group of street children, which allowed me to connect with a reality very close to me. As an actress and social activist, I have always been committed to the fight for justice and equality. Violence against children is a topic that touches me deeply, as I firmly believe that no child deserves to live in conditions of vulnerability and abuse. My experience in 'Night Children' has taught me that, although the topic is difficult and painful, it is essential to address it and make it visible to find solutions and support those who need it most. As an actress, I feel I have the responsibility to use my platform to speak about important issues and support those fighting for a just cause. I am proud to have been part of this project and hope to continue working on initiatives that promote social justice and the protection of children's rights."
